2027
In-Person
The Association of Canadian Archivists is seeking proposals for the location of its next in-person conference in 2027. The ACA in-person conference is held bi- annually in June, for four days which includes 1 day for workshops and meetings, and three days of academic conference sessions. A virtual conference is held in alternate years.
Venue
The conference requires a venue which can facilitate both plenary and sessions as well as an exhibitor hall
The conference usually hosts 3 concurrent sessions with a capacity of between 80-100 people per session
Plenary sessions require a room which can hold up to 300 people
The venue should have catering facilities for lunches provided to attendees for the session days, or the ability to bring in caterers
The venue should have capacity for audio/visual equipment for power point and other media presentations
The venue should have capacity for the set-up of an exhibitors’ hall, for approximately 10-12 tables
Facilities for a dinner-dance, and reception also required, but does not need to be located in the same space as the conference
The ACA would prefer that the venue be located in a university or college campus
Community
The presence of a number of archival or recordkeeping institutions, and/or a records management or archival studies program in the host community would be an asset
The support of local ACA members or allied provincial association members is an important component of the proposal
Demonstration of community support
Proximity to a well-served airport, or other transportation hubs an asset
Proposals should address the needs of the conference and include descriptions of the advantages in holding a conference in the suggested locale, including transportation access, cost considerations, and cultural highlights. Suggestions of possible themes which link to the proposed location are welcome.
Please send proposals to Dr. Gillian Leitch, executive.director@archivists.ca
