ACA Student Chapters

ACA encourages students in the archival academic programs to get involved with their professional association - Association of Canadian Archivists - early on in their career.

The following are our current Student Chapters:

University of British Columbia - ACA@UBC

The mission of the ACA@UBC is to:

  1. Provide opportunities for students to learn about archives, records management, and the archival profession;
  2. Build an inclusive environment that encourages diverse outlooks on archival practice and the profession’s potential;
  3. Promote communication and relationship-building among students, the UBC School of Information, and the wider archival community.

For more information on this chapter and its activities, please check the ACA@UBC website.

University of Toronto -  UofT ACA Student Chapter

The University of Toronto Association of Canadian Archivists Student Chapter (UofT ACA) is dedicated to representing the future professionals of the Canadian archival community. We encourage all students who are interested in archives to participate in Chapter activities and liaise with our parent organization. The Chapter exists to encourage student involvement in the archival community and to interact with other archival students and professionals across Canada. The chapter has monthly meetings and organizes a number of social events and speakers throughout the year.

For more information, visit the UofT ACA Chapter's Facebook Page.

University of Manitoba - UofM ACA Student Chapter

The UofM ACA Student Chapter was officially formed in 2013. In partnership with the ACA, the  Student Chapter seeks to connect Archival Studies students with the Archiving Community. Our student chapter meets to discuss archival issues; arrange academic lectures, professional workshops, and facility tours; host social events; and pursue professional development opportunities.

We are devoted to maintaining a sustainable and supported community where students can discuss not only their research, but local and global issues that affect the archiving community at large.

McGill University - McGill ACA

The Association of Canadian Archivists McGill University Student Chapter is dedicated to representing the future professionals of the Canadian archival community. The student association is made up of students enrolled in the Archival Studies stream of the MLIS program in the McGill School of Information Studies, as well as interested students in the other streams.

Dalhousie University - Dal ACA Student Chapter

The DAL ACA student chapter will provide students with connections to archival practice and theory with opportunities to network, attend meetings, participate in workshops, and attend events. We seek to provide all students of the DAL Master of Information program and the larger student body with an open and welcoming space to encourage engagement with archives, archival theory, records management, and other related fields. Our mission is to encourage inclusive representation and diverse voices from the archival community.
