About the Organization: The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is a community-focused, single-branch Library serving a diverse population of 42,800. The community includes urban and rural areas with most of the population centered in town, which is on the edge of the GTA and adjacent to the Holland Marsh. Bradford is a growing community with an increasing demand for library services.

Description and Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Cultural Services, this position assists with historical document and artifact management, organization, and preservation.

* Collect, digitize, index, inventory, and enter data for the local history archive.

* Update and maintain digital archive records and exhibits.

* Conduct research on local historical events, people, and places.

* Assist library users with local history and genealogical research.

* Acquire, arrange and describe in accordance with Rules for Archival Description (RAD) and International Standard Archival Description (ISAD).

* Apply basic preservation management to archival materials.

* Identify and apply copyright and privacy restrictions to archival materials.

* Organize and maintain local history files, books, and artifacts.

* Liaise with local history/heritage groups and associations.

Qualifications: * Enrolled in post-secondary education in history, archives, records management, information studies, or a related field.

* Familiarity with Rules for Archival Description (RAD) and the International Standard Archival Description (ISAD).

* Familiarity with basic preservation management of archival materials.

* Knowledge of Dublin Core metadata standards and Access to Memory (AtoM), the archival description software.

* Knowledge of digital resource types (multimedia file formats) and of tools related to digital file conversion.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.

* Experience with common software applications such as Windows, MS Office Suite, Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

* Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.

* Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.

* Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends.
