Position Details
Description & Duties: 
Reporting to the Director of the Section, the Manager, Corporate Access and Privacy is responsible for strategic management of the City's Corporate Access and Privacy program to ensure compliance with provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation. This position is expected to act with considerable autonomy, and holds significant decision-making delegation within the City related to access and privacy. The successful candidate will have the ability to design and implement innovations to ensure a dynamic program response to the expectations of the public, corporate leadership, Council, and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. ● Oversee access to information processes ● Oversee privacy breach and complaint investigations and response ● Design program innovations to ensure a dynamic and responsive ● Provide corporate expertise on access and privacy to Leadership of the Office of the City Clerk and the City ● Supervise the effective operation of the Corporate Access and Privacy program ● Oversee the corporate privacy impact assessment (PIA) process ● Oversee and participate in the mediation process on review files investigated by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner ● Develop policies and procedures related to all aspects of access and privacy including the intersection of access and privacy, ethics, analytics, and big data ● Demonstrated knowledge of current access and privacy issues and trends ● Contribute as a member of the branch Extended Leadership Team of the Office of the City Clerk ● Prepare briefings, reports, research, and analysis on access and privacy issues ● Oversee access and training program for City staff
Qualifications: 
● A degree, preferably at the Master's level, in Information Management, Library Sciences, Archival Studies or a related field ● Supplementary education and experience in access and privacy legislation and information management (such as IAPP certificate program) would be an asset ● Eight years of progressive leadership with five of those years working in access and privacy ● Demonstrated supervisory skills, and significant program management experience ● Excellent diplomacy, tact, and persuasion skills ● Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to develop and present high-level reports to corporate audiences such as Executive Leadership and Council ● The ability to work in an environment with competing demands and changing priorities ● Proficiency using information systems ● Experience working with oversight bodies such as the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is an asset ● Employment in this position is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Compensation: 
$84,597 - $120,852 (Annually)
