ACA 2019 Conference Registration, Call for Chairs and Call for Posters

To all Archivists, Records Managers, and other Information Management Professionals in Canada and around the world!

The Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) welcomes you all to our annual gathering, for 3+ days of stimulating speakers, engaging education sessions, lively meetings, innovative vendors, Toronto sightseeing, and let's not forget the East-West baseball game, silent auction, banquet, dance, and endless networking opportunities! Registration for ACA2019 is now open and early bird rates end the 15th of April 2019.

Everybody else, now is a good time to consider joining ACA if you aren't already a member.


This year we are inviting everybody who will be attending the conference to put their names forward as session chairs.   There are 21 sessions and, while we have several chairs already proposed, at least 12-15 will need somebody in this role.  Here’s what you need to qualify:

You are an ACA member in good standing

You are definitely attending the conference You are interested in timekeeping and facilitating questions and discussion

In the spirit of diversity and inclusion, and to complement the current slate of speakers, we are particularly interested in chairs from Atlantic and Northern Canada as well as Indigenous members. This call is however open to anyone who will be attending the conference. 


Please send a message to  with your institutional affiliation (work/educational) and a brief bio.  We need to hear from you by March 22nd.  Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific session and may not be able to accommodate everybody who applies.

Do it for the glory!  Sorry we can’t offer any compensation, but you will get to hobnob with the speakers and feel the glamour and delight of being one of the special people at the front of the room in front of an eager audience of your peers!


Do you have a topic you are burning to communicate about, that would work well in a visual format?  How about developing a poster for sharing at this year's conference?  We have room for a good number of posters, and we are flexible about the topics.  We'll judge your proposal on the same basis as the conference theme, but if there's room we'll be happy to include  any posters relevant to the profession.  If it complements a presentation that you, a colleague, or any other speaker is already talking about, that's great too.
