Purpose of the Foundation
The Association of Canadian Archivists Foundation was created and federally incorporated by ACA in 2006 to provide a fund-raising and fund granting charitable organization, with the specific aim of supporting the educational and research needs of the Canadian archival profession. Its key areas of focus are the following:
- to provide scholarships and fellowships to Canadians and landed immigrants, who are attending universities, colleges and trade schools that are Canadian registered charities and who are enrolled in archival-related disciplines including:
- archival planning;
- design of archival infrastructure;
- to provide funding for archival research and development at Canadian educational institutions; and
- to establish a program of internships to encourage students enrolled in archival-related disciplines at Canadian educational institutions.
- to establish or financially support academic chairs in Canadian educational institutions;
The Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors of 5 individuals, as listed below:

- Ellen Scheinberg
Current activities of the Foundation include:
- Overseeing annual student bursaries supported by the Stan Hanson & Kent Haworth funds
- Conducting an annual online fund-raising auction as well as a fund-raising raffle at the ACA conference
Donations to the Foundation are eligible for a tax creditable receipt (minimum $50) while all receipted donations must qualify in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations; by example a donation cannot be directed to an individual, nor can the donor receive any tangible benefit in return.
